Last week we headed over to the Wiesbaden Fasanerie
It’s somewhere we’ve been meaning to visit for a long time as it’s had great reviews from friends & it did not disappoint.
The park is huge & very very hilly!
The only toilets are located near the entrance so make sure you stop there before you start the climb up through the park!
It has all the usual animals you would expect to find here, pigs, deer, goats, sheep, birds, wild cats & brown bears to name a few.
The place is beautifully maintained, there are plenty of places to sit down & there is a lot of shade which was something we were grateful for.
I love the windows at kid height so you don’t have to pick your children up in order for them to see.
At some of the enclosures the kids could climb in & move along a tunnel which ended up at a viewing screen.
The sheep were super friendly and loved being petted.
All around the park were interactive stations
You could touch fox & badger fur
Learn about the animal footprints
At each enclosure there was information about the animals
We saw Wild pigs
I think the brown bears were my favourite
There is a ramp which D loved running up & down which gave you great views over the bear enclosure.
There were lots of deer
One of D’s favourite activities at the moment is feeding animals
There were some very hungry sheep!
Giving the sheep a kiss goodbye!
You can buy the food from the little shop at the entrance for €1,50 a package.
You are allowed to feed the sheep, goats & deer.
There is a playground with a couple of climbing frames
The highlight of the play area is the huge sand & water area
D spent ages here!
There was a kiosk serving the usual food & drink at reasonable prices.
Next to the Fasanarie is a restaurant . The restaurant & beer garden are closed on Mondays.
Its a great place for a family day out,we will definitely be back as we didn’t get around to seeing everything!
The Fasanarie is free of charge for everyone but a donation in one of the donation boxes is always welcome.
It is open April – October 9am-6pm
November – March 9am– 5pm
Find the Fasanerie at Wilfried-Ries-Str. 20, 65195 Wiesbaden, Hessen.
There is plenty of free parking but it can also be reached by public transport, Take Bus 33 from Wiesbaden hauptbahof.
